[Free Seminar] COP17 Flash Report: International Trends in Nature Positive and What Companies Should Prepare for Now

Biome Inc. will hold a free online seminar, “Biodiversity COP17 Flash Report: The Frontline of Nature Positive as Seen by On-site Participants,” on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 15:00 to 16:30 (JST). Members attending COP17 in person will draw on first-hand information gathered at the venue to explain trends in the international discussions and the key points companies should prepare for. The seminar offers an opportunity to apply the latest nature-positive developments to your company’s sustainability efforts.
■Background
Following the adoption of the global targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) at COP15 in 2022 and the release of the final recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) in 2023, addressing natural capital is becoming a key issue in corporate management.
COP17, held in Yerevan, Armenia, from October 19 to 30, 2026, is expected to conduct the first “global review” assessing worldwide progress toward the KMGBF, marking an important milestone for strengthening action toward the 2030 targets.
The outcome of these international discussions will directly affect how Japanese companies approach sustainability going forward, making it essential to keep up with the latest developments. We are holding this seminar to share the latest discussions and their key points with companies as quickly as possible, and to support Japanese companies in their efforts toward nature positive.

■About Biome Inc.
A nature tech company spun out of Kyoto University, with the mission of making biodiversity conservation a social norm. Biome offers “Biome,” a species collection app featuring a proprietary AI species identification function, which has surpassed 1.33 million cumulative downloads as of October 2026. The company has built one of Japan’s largest real-time biodiversity distribution databases, with over 12.3 million biological records.
To resolve a key bottleneck in advancing nature positive, namely analysis based on locally measured data, Biome uses this big data to support corporate nature-related financial disclosure (TNFD), certification of Nature Symbiosis Sites (Japan’s OECMs), biodiversity assessments in urban development, and more.
In October 2026, Biome also launched the beta version of “BiomeBoard,” a tool that integrates the collection, evaluation, and management of natural capital information to support TNFD alignment and other needs. Biome continues to strengthen practical support for nature-positive management and works to build a social foundation where environmental conservation and economic rationality go hand in hand.
